So here are some ideas for NBA2K’s MyCareer.
I really like the fact that we start our Career from High School and it’s here that i want to start.
I would like if we could choose our personality, the same way we choose our kind of playing style (athletic, 3pointer, slasher, offensive, ecc…) (This is actually an iPodKingCarter idea and this is the video were he speaks about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP3aaWDp4Ok ) anyway, i’d like that these personalities would decide our “future”:
- Probably a cocky player would have more interest by media and NBA teams than a calm guy that hasn’t much attention on him and this could cause him to lose some interest from NBA teams and this will cost him some positions at the draft. I’d also like if there were “tough decisions” and you’re personality plays an important role in your choices. I’d like something like this: You find our that your friends are drug users and you must decide if stay with them or to walk away, and if you decide to stay with them you could start using drugs and after the Draft, teams discover it and won’t let you play for them and your Career gets in big trouble. But if you walk away from them you could have a sort of “depression” and this would affect a bit your rating and your player’s development.
I’d also like to “choose” our ratings, something like Madden did. I’ll explain with an example:
- Lets says you want to be an High School Phenomenon, you will have high ratings (something like high 60s or low 70s) and by the end of your first year at college you are already almost an 80 overall and you’ll be surely a top 10 pick. But being so good gives you more pressure by the media (and this could affect your playing if you simulate games, like: If you’re a cocky player you would start to shoot more and more shots but you would stop passing the ball to your teammates and some teams lose interest for you meanwhile others get more attract and so does the media. But if you’re a shy/calm player you would start taking less shots and things like that). Also being so attractive could cause you to have a biggest amount of “bad” friends you will have a biggest amount of “tough decisions”.
- But you can also decide to be a normal basketball player (rating in the 40s or 50s) and you won’t have a lot of interest from the media, colleges and NBA teams and this will cost you to go undrafted and you’ll have to start you’re NBA Career on 10 days contracts and will be the last player in the rotation so you won’t play much but you will have a much faster development then a high school phenomenon and so by the end of your 2nd or start of your 3rd season will be an important player with ratings between 80 and 85.
- And finally you can choose to be a mediocre player (that has rating in the high 50s or low 60s) that has a bit of both of the previous things, you’ll get draft in the 2nd round, will have just some interest from media, won’t have a lot of decisions to make and will have a good develompment.
And another thing I’d like to see is, once you’ve become an hall of famer you’ll be put in the conversation of “one of the greatest of all time” and media would start asking you who’s the GOAT in your opinion, who’s in your Mount Rushmore and if you think you belong in that conversation and this will affect you’re fans (if you have their same choices they will love you even more, but if they’re different they will “hate” you but you’ll have new fans).
The last thing I’d love to see is that once you retired from being an NBA player you’ll have an offer from an NBA team (you’re first the or the one you played the most) that offers you a job as their GM and this way you can start a new MyGM series.
